A Place in the Sun chaos as buyers halt property viewing as home ‘looks like a cave’

A Place in the Sun buyers awkwardly halted a property viewing after seeing the bedrooms as they said it “looks like a cave.”

Channel 4 presenter and property expert Laura Hamilton struggled to impress couple Lindsay and Ian with one of her options on tonight’s episode (May 10) in their search for their dream holiday home in western Almería, Spain.

At the start of the episode, the pair, from Staffordshire, said they were searching for a typical Spanish house with two-bedrooms and a roof terrace.

But the houses failed to impress — with one of them making Lindsay feel like she was “in a cave”.

Laura had taken the couple to visit their second property option, which seemed to be making a good impression of tradesman Ian.

However, it missed the mark when it came to his wife’s opinion as she couldn’t control the disgust on her face when she entered the bedrooms.

She said: “I feel like I’m in a cave.”

Ian suggested lasting the room to make a difference but she said that she would still get the feeling.

The pair quickly decided to halt the viewing and move on to the next property.

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their reaction to the awkward moment.

One user said: “They really don’t know what they want, do they?”

Another added: “A bit more modern? A cave would be more modern than the last lot!”

A third commented: “What a weird, slightly horrid little hole.”

At the end of the show, the pair put in an offer of £52,500 on a sea-view apartment that was the opposite of what they initially wanted.

The initial offer was rejected and they were given a counteroffer of just over £56,000 – but they tried to haggle for them to do £55k, which also wasn’t accepted.

The pair then agreed to the £56k deal but pulled out just a few weeks later.
