In a new film about the late pop star Amy Winehouse, her dad Mitch is to be portrayed by Cockney actor Eddie Marsan.

The film, Back to Black, is led by Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor Johnson, and has Mitch’s blessing, unlike 2015’s Amy.
The last biopic about her troubled life cast Mitch in a negative light and he has since said that it was all a “lie”.
He has however insisted that some of his flaws are shown in Back to Black. In fact, he sent the first script back as it was “too much” and made him “look like a saint” and that “he should be knighted”.
Filming began last month in London, with Marisa Abela, 26, as the lead.

Amy’s mum Janis is not a fan of the new biopic though as she has said it has resurfaced painful memories of Mitch’s affair. The pair are now divorced.
Janis, 67, also said Back to Black portrays her as a “doormat”.
She added: “I was horrified.
“I’m shown as a feeble, tired woman, slouching on the couch.
“When Amy was growing up, I was a hard-working, outgoing single mother studying for two university degrees.”
