Andrew Lloyd Webber’s son Nick has been moved to a hospice as he battles pneumonia alongside gastric cancer, according to the composer himself.
In a video posted on his social media, Andrew, 75, expressed gratitude for the support his son has received, saying: “I think he’s over the worst of this first bout of pneumonia that he’s got as a result of his cancer, which is just ghastly.”
He added that he and his family are by Nick’s side as he fights the illness.

The theatre legend previously announced that Nick, 43, was “critically ill” and hospitalised after a battle with gastric cancer for the last 18 months.
Andrew expressed his devastation at not being able to attend the premiere of his Broadway musical Bad Cinderella, stating: “I will not be able to cheer on its wonderful cast, crew and orchestra on Opening Night this Thursday.”
Andrew’s son Nicholas has carved out his own successful career in theatre, having written Fat Friends The Musical, as well as numerous TV and film scores.
His father has been rallying support from friends and followers, and they have been pouring in messages of love and support for the family.
In a separate development, Andrew has been commissioned to create a piece of music for the coronation of King Charles III, which is set to take place on May 6th at Westminster Abbey.
The monarch has also requested Greek Orthodox music to be played in tribute to his late father, Prince Philip, who passed away in 2021.
With six orchestral commissions, five choral commissions, and one organ commission, the ceremony will feature music from many genres.
Lord Lloyd-Webber, who composed iconic interludes such as Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, will composing a brand-new anthem for the occasion. “I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion,” he said.
A handpicked gospel choir – The Ascension Choir – will perform as part of the service, as will the Choir of Westminster Abbey and the Choir of His Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace – together with girl choristers from the Chapel Choir of Methodist College, Belfast, and from Truro Cathedral Choir.
