Antiques Roadshow experts left a guest in complete shock over the appraisal of a small family heirloom.
The brooch was missing makers marks, which made it difficult for the experts to determine who had made the stunning accessory.
Nonetheless, jeweller Geoffrey, who admitted to have studied the work of jewellery firm Fabergé, confirmed that the piece was very similar to the iconic jewellers.

However, he quickly realised that it wasn’t by Faberge, but it was from the “same period and same place” as Faberge, and therefore deduced that it was made by one of the firm’s competitors.
“Neither of us can find a makes mark, I think it’s one of [Faberge’s] competitors,” Geoffrey revealed. “I’ve spent my life looking at his work and it isn’t quite him.
“But it comes from the same period, exactly the same place, exactly the same clientele,” he added. “It’s a rose that smells as sweet but perhaps not as sweet financially.”
After keeping the guest waiting for his estimate, Geoffrey left the audience and his guest absolutely shocked at the brooch’s value.
“Well I’m going to say £7,000 to £8,000.”
The audience gasped as the guest said: “I’m speechless! I’d never believe that.”
“You’d better believe it!” Geoffrey replied.
“Now really,” the guest then asked, but Geoffrey reassured her that the price was correct.
Later on in the show, a real Faberge item came Geoffrey’s way. A Faberge cigarette case was valued at less than its rival’s earlier in the show, at £2,000.
“That’s incredible, my husband will be very happy, he got a bargain!” the guest said after receiving her estimate.
