Barbie fans baffled as extended trailer ‘becomes all about Margot Robbie’s feet’

Barbie fans have been left baffled at how much the full-length trailer centres around Margot Robbie’s feet.

The new extended teaser dropped this week, giving eager viewers a taste of what the actual plot of Greta Gerwig’s latest film will be – after several teasers simply showing a pink-hued Barbie world.

The iconic trailer begins with a close-up shot of Margot’s feet as she struts down a pink corridor in fluffy heels, before that perfect moment she steps out of the shoe and her foot retains its shape, just like an actual Barbie doll’s.

A stunning dance sequence featuring Margot and her Ken co-star Ryan Gosling follows, before Barbie asks her fellow plastic fantastics if they’ve ever thought about dying.

As her perfect pink world begins to fall apart, so do her feet, as they drop out of their perfect heeled posture and begin to act as regular human toes.

Barbie tells her friends: “My heels are on the ground,” before holding her bare leg up high and sticking said feet in their faces so they can all take a closer look.

Cue the gasps and screams.

Barbie is then offered her regular pair of pink heels, if she decides to stay in the Barbie World, or a pair of rustic brown sandals to journey into the real world.

“The first one, the high heel!” she can be heard saying.

Another iconic moment in the trailer comes when a passer-by smacks Barbie’s bum, and she whips round to punch him right in the nose.

But fans became much more distracted by Margot’s feet in the short clip, as one Twitter user said: “Huh, there sure if a lot of Margot Robbie’s feet in the new Barbie trailer!”

“I wonder how many people would believe me if I went back in time one year and told them that Margot Robbie’s feet would be an important plot point in a big Hollywood movie,” someone else said.

It’s not the only time Margot’s feet have stolen the Hollywood spotlight. During filming for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino begged her not to wash them.

While playing Sharon Tate in the film, Margot could be seen whipping off her shoes in a movie theatre and resting her bare feet on the seat in front of her.

Speaking to Vogue, she admitted: “My character walks into a movie theatre to see herself on the big screen, and she kind of kicks off her go-go boots and puts her feet up and settles in to watch the movie.

“But my feet were dirty because I’d been walking around set.

“They stayed dirty in the movie because Quentin said, ‘Don’t. Don’t clean them,’.

“Someone ran in to do it, and he was like, ‘No, it’s real. Keep it.’”
