BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood replaced by rarely seen star as fans all have same demand

BBC Breakfast fans all had the same demand this weekend as weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was replaced by a rarely seen star.

Carol is one of the most familiar faces on the show, at the helm of the meteorological report while the likes of Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt and Sally Nugent present the regular news.

But on Sunday (April 30), none of them were anywhere to be seen, as Stavros Danaos stepped in for Carol.

Presenting the main show on the famous red sofa were Nina Warhurst and Ben Boulos.

Introducing Stav to the show, Nina told fans: “It’s 11 minutes past seven, let’s check in with Stav for this morning’s weather. I tell you what, Stav, we are ready for a break in those clouds!”

But Stav confirmed there is a “question mark” over whether or not we’ll seen sunny spells.

And fans all had the same thought – while many said a cheery good morning to the presenters, others simply wanted the talk of the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III to cease.

The show presented a lengthy segment on next weekend’s event, introducing the Stone of Destiny on which Scottish monarchs were crowned.

But fuming viewers took to Twitter to beg the show to “stop”.

One bored audience member said: “@bbcbreakfast I’m already bored of the Coronation… zzz.”

“Please make this Coronationfest stop… Or at least show some balance, this Stone of Destiny rubbish is absurd,” someone else agreed.

Others were simply loving the new presenting line-up, as one fan tweeted: “Loving @NinaWarhurst & @BenMBoulos on today’s @BBCBreakfast!”

Someone else agreed: “BBC, thanks for fielding the A-team of @NinaWarhurst & @BenMBoulos on @BBCBreakfast this morning.”

Ben had his own anecdote about the late Queen Elizabeth II, explaining: “I love all the history around it, the symbolism.

“I remember the first time I went to the Tower of London and saw the Crown Jewels. You look at them and think, ‘Are they the actual ones?’ And then you think, they’ve got to be!”

He added: “There was a programme where they spoke to the late Queen about the Crown Jewels. They had this lovely moment when they had the crown on the table in front of her.

“I don’t think she’d seen it since her Coronation in person. And the presenter said, ‘Can we move it slightly closer?’ and she just sort of takes it and pulls it towards her. Very deliberately! It was a really lovely moment.”

Nina giggled: “‘It’s mine, actually!'”
