Many of his Strictly co-stars and ex Strictly contestants flooded in to share their memories of Len, including Carol who appeared on Strictly in 2015 while Len was still a judge.

As she spoke of the former judge, old clips of Carol appeared on screen showing the famous weathergirl eight years earlier – and looking incredibly glamorous.

Carol appeared on-screen in multiple different snippets with various ballgowns as she matched the glitz and glamour of the Strictly ballroom.

The dazzling outfits and makeup looks was quite a difference from her usual attire which is business wear on a daily basis on BBC Breakfast – but her fans adore that too.

As her old snippets came on-screen, Carol was talking over the clips to share her love of Len.

She said: “Len was just a lovely, lovely kind generous man and I remember my very first dance at Strictly. I was so nervous I thought my heart was going to thud right out of my body and I made a mess of it.

“Len was so lovely, what he said was it was like a summer, there were bright spells in it and there were bits of grey from time to time – so he started with a weather analogy.”

Carol added: “He had that twinkle in his eye in the corridor and would say, ‘keep going, you’re doing fine.'”

Sally Nugent then said to Carol: “Carol you know we all loved watching you on Strictly and I know as you said at the time, he was just gorgeous with you. Let’s have a little look back at Carol on Strictly.”

The clips played with Len giving his feedback to Carol with his many weather analogies, including an occasion where he called Carol a “ray of sunshine”.

Tributes poured in for Len following his death, with Craig Revel Horwood, BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and Piers Morgan all sharing sweet comments.

BBC Breakfast continues on BBC One from 6am.
