BBC The Apprentice double exit twist as lavish Dubai trip results in two casualties

The Apprentice star Joe Phillips admits facing Lord Sugar was more terrifying than being chased by wild animals.

The lad has worked as a safari guide for years and he says it didn’t come close to getting a dressing down in the boardroom.

He said: “In the past I’ve had lions and buffalo charge at me.

“Would I rather face the charge of a six-tonne elephant or the wrath of Lord Sugar in the boardroom? I’d probably rather face the elephant.

“Wild animals and Lord Sugar are both terrifying in very different ways.”

Joe became the latest budding entrepreneur to be fired during Thursday’s (February 9) episode.

He wasn’t the only person to leave the show as Reece Donnelly was forced to quit as he was unable to travel to Dubai for the latest task.

Speaking since quitting the show, the theatre school boss said: “I could not continue in The Apprentice due to being unable to complete the task in Dubai for health reasons.”

Despite missing out on the £250,000 investment, Scottish-born Reece, left, is convinced his stint on the show was a success.

He added: “My goal of being on The Apprentice was to showcase that Scotland has amazing businesses and entrepreneurs. I really hope I’ve done that.”

Reece announced he was taking part in the show once the official line-up was revealed on January 3, dubbing it “Scotland’s worst kept secret”.

He said at the time: “I hope you all enjoy the show as much as we laughed making it. As the first Scottish candidate in over 8 years, let’s do this Scotland.”

Due to the line-up being the biggest since 2017, producers won’t bring in new candidates.

Reece’s decision to quit comes just a month after Shannon Martin left the show because she missed home.

Shannon’s exit came after she explained she was “constantly thinking” about what was going on at home and with her bridal business.

She said at the time: “The unknown is definitely not something I’m good at. The more I thought about it, the more I thought, ‘Am I in here for the right reasons? Do I really want a business partner? Is this what I want? Do I want my life to change?’”

The Apprentice airs Thursdays on BBC One at 9pm
