BBC show Wolf has divided viewers, with some calling it “grim” and saying it plumbs new lows.
Others have questioned what sort of “sick minds” the crime drama – which follows a family who are trapped and terrorised by a psychopath and a police officer convinced his neighbour killed his brother – appeals to.
The show stars Ukweli Roach, Iwan Rheon, Sian Reese-Williams and Juliet Stevenson and is based on the books by late crime writer Mo Hayder, and the BBC has described it as “a deliciously bloody, twisting race against time”.

It has gone down a storm with some viewers since it was unveiled earlier this summer and it has also garnered some good reviews from critics.
However, others reckon the show, which doesn’t hold back when it comes to gritty scenes, is a bit too “twisted” for them.
“Wolf is very intense, even for me,” one tweeted.
“I remember why I stopped reading the books after the second one. Very grim.”
Another said: “Too flippin’ creepy and weird for my ‘entertainment’, and not leaving me feeling ‘thrilled’ – each to their own and all that though, takes all sorts.”
“What kind of sick minds think ‘Wolf’ on BBC 1 constitutes entertainment?” asked another viewer.
“Those involved should be ashamed of plumbing a new disgusting low.”
Someone else called it “dreadful”, and one viewer admitted: “Didn’t like Wolf on BBC1 Just too nasty.”
However, other viewers have said the series is just what they were after.
One person tweeted: “Absolutely loving Wolf on BBC One.
“Dark, twisted, mysterious, sexy. Well done all round.”
Another impressed viewer added: “Oh there’s some sick dark humour in this series.
“So dark, I’m actually concerned that I found it.
“Brilliant series, really unique.”
“One of the best shows I’ve watched in ages,” agreed someone else.
