One thing that was apparent in the book was how in love Britney was with NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. The pair met after Britney got into the Mickey Mouse Club on her second attempt and she claimed that she was “so in love with him it was pathetic”.

After they split up Justin released his hit track Cry Me a River that was reportedly about Britney. Justin “shamed” her with the song and she revealed: “I don’t think Justin realised the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day.

“After Cry Me a River came out, anywhere I went, I would get booed. I would go to clubs and I would hear boos. Once I went to a Lakers game with my little sister and one of my brother’s friends, and the whole place, the whole arena, booed me.” Britney also admitted to cheating on Justin but she alleged it was in response to his reported infidelity.

A shocking revelation was that Justin and Britney chose to abort a pregnancy in the early 2000s. Britney said it wasn’t a “tragedy” for her, but Justin wasn’t ready and the pair believed they were too young.

Britney added she was in “agonising” pain after taking the medication while at home in a bid to keep it private. The pop star claimed that she suffered “excruciating cramps” while lying on the bathroom floor after it happened.

Justin was by her side but didn’t take her to the hospital, instead, he played his guitar for her while she cried. Britney says the painful experience “messed her up” for a while afterwards and is one of the most painful things she’s been through in her life.

Britney underlined the difficulties that she faced when she was constantly front page news and explained that she began to suffer from extreme anxiety. She revealed that fellow pop icon Madonna visited her and helped her through the tough time.

She wrote: “In many ways, Madonna did have a good effect on me. She told me I should be sure to take time out for my soul… She modelled a type of strength that I needed to see.”

The Oops… I Did it Again singer also spoke out about the famous kiss that she shared with Madonna on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003 claiming that she wanted to create “a moment.”

Fans may remember that Britney married her childhood friend Jason on a drunken night in Las Vegas. In the book Britney admitted that she doesn’t remember a lot about the night itself but did say that she had to “wait in line” behind another couple before she married him.

The star revealed her family’s reaction to her wedding and said that they flew out to Vegas the next day. She wrote: “They made way too big a deal out of innocent fun. I didn’t take it that seriously. I thought a goof-around Vegas wedding was something people might do as a joke. Then my family came and acted like I’d started World War III.”

Brit said that the way she was “interrogated” made her want to “rebel” which could be what contributed towards her later actions. The marriage was very quickly annulled and lasted a mere 55 hours.

During the custody battle for her sons, Britney famously shaved her head and said that it was a “f*** you to the world.” At the time it sparked concern among fans but she has now opened up on her reasons why she did it.

She explained that she’d spent her life being “eyeballed” and “looked up and down” so she did it to “act out” to the media. She wrote: “Everyone thought it was hilarious. Look how crazy she is!

“Even my parents acted embarrassed by me. But nobody seemed to understand that I was simply out of my mind with grief. My children had been taken away from me.”

Britney then detailed discovering the Free Britney movement. She wrote: “Fans saying they were trying to figure out if I was being held somewhere against my will, talking about how much my music meant to them and how they hated to think I was suffering now. They wanted to help. And just by doing that, they did help.”

When the star got home she claimed that she reported her father for “conservatorship abuse” in June 2021. When she got to speak in court she said that she felt she had “finally been listened to” after 13 years. The legal arrangement ended in November of that year and she said: “And now, finally, it was my own life.”
