Coronation Street fans were left buzzing to see a show “legend” make a return to the cobbles.
The ITV soap was back on TV screens on Friday (July 7) for another hour of Weatherfield drama.
But viewers watching the latest episode were left over the moon when Doctor Susan Gaddas (Christine Mackie) made a surprise return.

The Corrie medic has been treating residents for over nine years – making her debut back in 2014.
But on Friday, the show favourite appeared in the cafe, and was later cornered by baddie and serial killer Stephen about his wife Elaine – who he is trying to kill off.
And the doctor’s appearance went down a treat with viewers, who rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts.
“Doctor Gaddas I adore her! Make her a regular and bring her family in please,” said someone else.
A second added: “Ah yes! The great Doctor Badass!”
A third chimed in and quipped: “Dr Gaddas needs main character status she’s a camp queen.”
Someone else said: “Doctor Gaddas legend,” while another person penned: “Well you don’t normally see Gadass outside of the Medical Centre.”
“This has instantly made this episode 100x better,” gushed a sixth viewer.
A seventh wrote: “GADDAS IN THE WILD! They let her out!”
Despite her stint on the show, soap fans might be shocked to know that the actress played three different roles in Corrie before landing the iconic part.
The soap star kicked off her Corrie career as a nurse based at Blackpool’s Victoria Hospital where Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) was briefly admitted back in December 1989.
She went on to play Chris Jones between April and May 1992.
Christine played Bella in May 2010, the dancing instructor at the Salsa lessons attended by Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) and Anna Windass (Debbie Rush).
Christine later returned as Dr Gaddas, a general practitioner operating from the Rosamund Street Medical Centre.
