Coronation Street Tim death twist ‘sealed’ after horrific Stephen showdown

Coronation Street fans are convinced that Tim Metcalfe is “faking his own death” following his horrific showdown with Stephen Reid.

Over the past few weeks, ITV fans have been gripped to the long-running soap desperately holding out for cobbles killer (played by Todd Boyce) to receive the cold hand of justice.

Since he joined the show in 2021, his character has taken the lives of Teddy and Leo Thompkins and his business associate Rufus – but he could have another death on his hands this week.

During Monday’s episode (October 9) Tim (Joe Duttine) investigated into Stephen’s secrets and found Teddy Thompkins’ body hidden away in a local canal.

A horrified Tim sprang into action with the hope to expose Stephen as a killer, but the cold-hearted Canadian attacked him and knocked him unconscious. It didn’t take long before Tim is left fighting for his life when Stephen locked him in the boot of his car and doused the vehicle with petrol.

Viewers struggled to watch the devastating scenes play out before they took to social media to share their theories on Tim’s gruelling demise. One user penned: “Tim was playing dead and he got out when Stephen was distracted by the helicopter so when Stephen sets the car alight.

“We are supposed to think he is in there and then at the end week Tim will be in hospital under protection. Well that’s what I think #Corrie.” Another echoed: “I think Tim might be faking his death and escape the boot in time #corrie.”

A third added: “Nah I reckon Tim’s faking it #Corrie” as a fourth agreed: “#Corrie have really killed off one of the best character in this Stephen storyline [red angry emoji, fuming emoji]!!! NOOO Tim better be faking being dead.”

It comes after actor Joe Duttine warned fans to be “worried” for his character following his grisly run-in with the evil entrepreneur. When asked if viewers should be concerned for the taxi driver, he teased: “I think so, yeah.

“I like the fact that we don’t know what’s going on with Tim after Monday’s episode and we focus on the story with the Platts instead. I like the fact that we don’t know where he is. You almost forget about him. So I think the audience should be very worried for Tim.”

In the build-up to Stephen’s dramatic demise, the pair were lucky enough to film the tense scenes out on location – but it wasn’t quite as glamourous as it seemed. The actor went on: “I loved doing all that stuff. It was great. It’s great to do something different as well – it’s great to get out of the building. During the COVID lockdowns, we were using the building a lot.

Fans will have to stay tuned to see what will happen to Tim and whether or not he will be able to escape Stephen’s murderous grasp.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
