Sue Cleaver is best known for her portrayal of Eileen Grimshaw on ITV soap Coronation Street – a role she’s played for the last 19 years.
Having been a regular face on the cobbles for so long, fans have recently been stunned to see the star transform her look after embarking on a health overhaul.
The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star’s weight loss journey began in 2016 and she went from a size 16 to a size 12.

Actress Sue appeared on ITV’s This Morning last week ahead of her return to the popular soap, showcasing an even slimmer figure, and fans are dying to know her weight loss secrets.
Daily Star has taken a closer look inside her weight loss transformation
Food overhaul
One of the biggest game changers for the soaps star has been a huge overhaul in her diet.
The self-confessed “foodie” said she tries to stick to a diet loved by many stars – the Mediterranean diet.
Since changing the way that she eats, Sue has gone from a size 16 to size 12, shedding three stone in the process.
The diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and seafood and most importantly it does allow for a small amount of alcohol – approximately one small glass of red wine per day.
During her time in the Australian Jungle, it is unlikely she followed the Mediterranean diet, instead, she would’ve eaten a gruelling diet of rice and beans.
It has been widely reported that the celebs taking part in the reality TV show eat around 700 calories a day in rations unless they win stars in their daily tasks.
But given the limited rations, Sue did admit she lost weight in the jungle.
During an appearance on This Morning, Sue revealed taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy) has also given her a boost of energy.
The 59-year-old revealed she started HRT at the beginning of 2022, and praised it as “the biggest change for me”.
She said she “feels like a different human being” and has “so much energy”.
Healthy mindset
While the star is clearly motivated to overhaul her health and shed any extra weight, she also admits that she is determined to keep a healthy mindset.
Speaking about the pressures women face about their looks, Sue admitted: “There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it. “
She also said she refuses to promote weight-loss products and chooses to remain positive about her journey.
“That’s why I’ll never promote anything weight-related, and it’s why I’d always rather compliment somebody on their smile or their outfit, rather than their weight.
“Let’s just let women be women – we have enough difficulties and struggles as it is.”
Diabetes diagnosis
Sue gave her co-stars a high fright back in 2011 when she collapsed on the set of Corrie.
It was later determined that the star suffered from an attack brought on by Type 2 Diabetes.
With condition requiring Sue to maintain a healthy blood sugar level through diet and exercise, Sue decided to overhaul her lifestyle.
Since then she has opted to cut out three foods from her diet and adopt new habits.
She has swapped out food with a high sugar content as well as upping her exercise regime.
Speaking in support of Diabetes Week in the past, Cleaver told Diabetes Advice: “Having good control of diabetes is really important – after all, people with the condition live with it every day, taking care of their diet and physical activity.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
