Dancing On Ice series one stars now – X-rated TV moment, cheesemaker and co-star romance

Many celebrities have laced up their skates for Dancing On Ice, with legends from stage, screen, music and beyond dazzling ITV viewers.

It is hard to believe that the popular competition was first broadcast in 2006, with Doctor Who stars, Corrie legends and daytime favourites competing to be crowned the champion during the first series.

Since then, the contestants have gone on further fame and fortune, while others have turned their back on the limelight to embark on new careers.

Here, Daily Star takes a look at where the stars of Dancing On Ice series one are now.

Andi Peters

TV presenter Andi Peters became the second contestant to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice, following the departure of socialite Tamara Beckwith.

Although viewers might know Andi as presenting the cash prize on Lorraine and This Morning, the popular host has been a familiar face on our TV screens for many years.

He began his career as children’s TV royalty, after following in the footsteps of Philip Schofield to host CBBC’s The Broom Cupboard in 1989 – where he had an unusual sidekick called Ed The Duck.

After four years with Ed The Duck, he became one of the first hosts of Saturday morning TV show Live And Kicking in 1993, where he co-hosted the programme alongside Emma Forbes and John Barrowman.

He presented Live And Kicking for more than three years until 1996, and since then, has hosted programmes including Top Of The Pops, Shipwrecked, The O-Zone, Dancing On Ice and even had a minor speaking role in the Hollywood film Toy Story 2 as an airport baggage handler.

It is no surprise then that he has an estimated net worth of more than £3.1m.

However, he is best known for appearing on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and This Morning as a competition presenter – where he has amused viewers with a number of hilarious TV moments.

This included winners not opening the door because they were “naked,” to breaking his at home set during the pandemic and being blown away by the wind.

One segment even left Lorraine Kelly in tears, after Andi did not realise there was an x-rated statue behind him.

At the end of the segement, Andi was surprised to see the statue and had to position himself to hide the genitals in full view of the screen, saying: “Lorraine, I’m so sorry.”

He later held up a card in front of the statue, adding: “Excuse me.”

Lorraine however could not stop laughing, telling the presenter: “I know my eye was strangely drawn.”

Away from the limelight, Andi has rarely spoken about his personal life and it is not known if he is in a relationship.

However, The Sun reported that in 2016, he tweeted a picture of a sign, which read: “I’m single because I’m a superhero,” and captioned the snap, “Now that’s a fact I like!”

Andrea McLean

Loose Women star Andrea McLean was the third celebrity to be eliminated from the first series of Dancing On Ice.

That’s not all, as her and fellow contestant Andi became the presenters of fan show Dancing On Ice Extra for the remainder of the series.

The skating show has not been her only foray into reality TV though, as she took part in BBC series Tumble in 2014 and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2019.

After beginning her career as a freelance travel writer, she became a weather presenter for GMTV from 1997 to 2008.

She later became a panelist on ITV daytime talk show Loose Women between 2007 to 2020, and has hosted programmes such as Our House, LK Today and 3@Three.

Away from TV, Andrea has released the best-selling book Confessions of a Menopausal Woman and accompanying website, This Girl Is On Fire – an online community for women.

In her personal life, Andrea was in a relationship with teenage sweetheart Nick Green, who later worked as a producer for the BBC.

They had a 17-year relationship and married in 2000, before welcoming a son called Finlay in 2001.

However the couple later split and Andrea began a relationship with fellow Our House presenter Steve Toms, who she later married in 2009.

The couple welcomed a daughter called Amy in 2006, but split in 2012, with Andrea opening up about their relationship during an episode of Loose Women.

“Steve and I had grown apart and we both knew it,” said Andrea.

“We’d tried so many times to make it work, but it was hopeless. We held it together over Christmas for the kids, but then on Boxing Day I took them to stay with my parents – and that was the end.

She continued: “I’m still in shock. When I hear myself talking about ‘my first marriage breakdown’ then ‘this time round’ the words are like a stab in the heart.

“Because I simply can’t believe I’m in this position again.

“People think I’m Snow White… the most boring person in the world! I’ve only ever slept with two men, and I married them both.”

The TV personality has been married to businessman Nick Feeney since 2017.

John Barrowman

Actor John Barrowman was eliminated from the series in week four – but later made a return as a Dancing On Ice judge.

However, long before he landed on our TV screens as Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who, John Barrowman MBE was actually one of the original presenters of Live And Kicking.

He co-hosted the programme from 1993 to 1996, after beginning his career as a musical theatre performer in productions such as Anything Goes, The Phantom Of The Opera and Sunset Boulevard.

John is best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood, as well as being a judge on Dancing On Ice and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?

As well as appearances on TV series including Arrow, The Strictly Come Dancing 2010 Christmas Special and Hotel Babylon, he also finished third in the 2018 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

However in May 2021, John came under fire after it was revealed that he had been removed from the show Doctor Who: Time Fracture, after he was accused of exposing himself on the set of the BBC drama.

Speaking about the accusations during an appearance on daytime show Lorraine, John said: “I think that if it was now it would be crossing the line. I think that something that happened 15 years ago – it was bawdy behaviour, silly behaviour.

“It was being done in the confines of the set and we were like a family working together. The fact that it was stories that I’ve already told, I’ve been telling them for years. I haven’t hidden anything.

“They have been exaggerated and they have tried to turn them into sexual harassment, which it absolutely is not.

“The one thing that for me, all the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there. They don’t know the context of things that were done. Like I said, I would never do it now.”

Away from TV, John has released own line of skin-care products called HIM, John has also released a 2008 memoir and performed at the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

He has also worked with the charity Stonewall on the Education For All campaign against homophobia in schools.

Away from the limelight, John is married to his husband Scott Gill, who he first met at the Chichester Festival in 1993.

They married 20 years later in 2013 in California.

Sean Wilson

Former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson became the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice series one.

Sean landed his first acting role in Crown Court, before making a name for himself as Martin Platt in Coronation Street between 1985 to 2005.

He made a return to the cobbles in 2018, as well as making appearances in Casualty, Dalziel and Pascoe, Doctors and Waterloo Road, before leaving the world of acting for a new career.

Martin now works as a chef and has his own business called Saddleworth Cheese Company, along with releasing The Great Northern Cookbook in 2012.

The star hasn’t ruled out a return to acting however, telling The Sun: “I still want to act.

“I just think for casting people the fact that I was in Coronation Street so long is a bit of a stumbling block.”

He added: “I stepped into the Michelin environment and it was like 12 to 15 hour days but I was driven to learn more about food.

“I don’t think anyone from Corrie would be surprised that I became a chef because I was always hosting dinner parties and cooking.”

He explained that he loves his work for the Saddleworth Cheese Company, whose products are stocked by major supermarkets, adding: “Suddenly it all made sense when I got into cheese, I came out with a direction.”

In his personal life, Sean was married to his wife Gaynor until 2013, but is now in a relationship with actress Susie Fenwick.

Bonnie Langford

Following the departures of Olympian Kelly Holmes and former England goalkeeper David Seaman, TV legend Bonnie Langford reached the final of Dancing on Ice – coming in third.

Bonnie Langford was already a familiar face on our TV screens as a child star, before landing the role of Mel Bush opposite Colin Baker’s sixth doctor and Sylvester McCoy’s seventh doctor between 1986-1987.

As well as appearing in hit theatre productions including Chicago, Guys and Dolls and 42nd Street, she has also played Carmel Kazemi in BBC soap EastEnders from 2015-2018.

Speaking of her role in EastEnders, the star told Radio Times: “I’m so thrilled and delighted to be part of EastEnders. I’m a great fan of the show and think the 30th Anniversary was sensational and shows just how good British television can be.

“To be part of this family is an absolute privilege.”

She also delighted fans by reaching the 2021 final of The Masked Singer as Squirrel.

Away from the limelight, Bonnie was also married to Paul Grunert, saying in a 2006 interview: “I’d known Paul since 1987, when we’d done a show together. But I just hadn’t thought of him in that way.

“Then a friend suggested we all get together. In the end, she couldn’t make it, so it was just Paul and me. And that was that.

“It’s always the times in your life when you’re not looking that you find what you need.”

Together they had a daughter called Biana, before divorcing 20 years later.

Stefan Booth

Former EastEnders actor Stefan Booth narrowly missed out on the top spot in Dancing On Ice, coming second in the first series.

Before heading to Albert Square, Stefan had a rival soap role as Jamie Nash in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, before playing Sergeant Marc Rollins in The Bill.

He later appeared on Celebrity Weakest Link, The Royal and Casanova’s Last Stand, as well as playing Greg Jessop in EastEnders.

Since then, he has made a return to the stage in productions such as Dick Whittington, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and Chicago, as well as the film Back In Business.

Stefan most recently lent his voice to the video game Troy: A Total War Saga in 2020.

The star tends to keep his personal life private, but it is known that he has been married to presenter and model Debbie Flett since 2006.

Gaynor Faye

Actress Gaynor Faye became the first ever winner of Dancing On Ice – but she was already a huge star long before donning her skates.

Gaynor became a soap icon when she played Judy Mallett in Coronation Street between 1995 to 1999, before taking on roles in Playing The Field, Fat Friends, Between the Sheets, Danis House and The Chase.

That’s not all, as Gaynor took on a rival soap role in Emmerdale as Megan Macey between 2012 to 2019.

Most recently, she appeared as Cheryl Armitage in BBC One drama The Syndicate.

Away from the limelight, Gaynor lives with her long term partner Mark Pickering, with who she has two children.

The actress and her family also opened up about the death of her famous mother, the writer Kay Mellor, who died in 2022.

Kay penned hit TV series including Band of Gold and Fat Friends, with the family sharing a statement via PA News Agency saying: “We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful words, messages and tributes for Kay who was laid to rest on Tuesday.

“We would also like to say thank you for respecting our privacy at this very sad time. We are heartbroken and miss her terribly, but we hope to continue her legacy through Rollem.

“Kay was committed to getting new writers’ voices on screen and the team at Rollem, which Kay put together and nurtured, will continue her work.”
