Jacqueline Jossa has reflected on her EastEnders stint as she confirmed her return five years after she originally walked away from the role of Lauren Branning.
Jossa has come and gone as Lauren on Albert Square ever since she first joined the soap in 2010, and after she left in 2018, she had two brief returns. Mere weeks since her last appearance on the show, it’s now been revealed she’s returning for good.

The 30-year-old actress confirmed the news that she would be returning to the soap on Saturday night in a joint statement with BBC. As she shared an update to her Instagram Stories, Jacqueline took a moment to reflect on her stint as Lauren.
She shared an old snap of her character when she first arrived on Albert Square – with a full fringe and red hair. Jacqueline wrote: “This hair cut though. It haunts me.”, alongside two laughing emojis.
The snap also saw a picture of present-day Lauren back in Walford as the telly favourite wrote: “Lauren Branning is on her way home.” While Lauren’s return will be great news for Peter, who will finally be able to reunite with his son full-time, it’s not great news for everyone.
Lauren has still got issues with Peter that needs to be fixed, but the biggest problem surrounds Linda Carter. Following her affair with Max Branning, Linda had his daughter, which means Lauren has a sister she’s not yet aware of.
While drama is likely to surround Lauren, an excited Jacqueline said she’s thrilled as there’s “such a buzz” around EastEnders at the moment. She added: “Walford holds such a special place in my heart, so it really does feel like coming home.”
Fans immediately swooned over the return as one user said: “EastEnders has really been listening to their fans! Now let’s resurrect Ronnie and Roxy.” Another said: “The best news! EastEnders just keep raising the bar. There is no end to its brilliance. Incredible.”
While a third begged for Peter and Lauren to rekindle their romance. A fourth also called for Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, to return to his role too.
The news of Lauren’s return comes shortly after Executive producer Chris Clenshaw told Daily Star: “There will be some characters returning in the not too distant future. They will be announced soon. Watch this space.”
More characters are expected to return – and there are already lots of theories speculating on who will be arriving back in Albert Square.
