Former EastEnders star Billy Murray claims a kidnap gang tried to snatch his grandchildren as they picked wildflowers on a country walk.
The actor, who played Johnny Allen in the BBC soap and starred as Det Sgt Don Beech in ITV police drama The Bill for 11 years, said the two youngsters were walking down a lane with their mum and her partner when five men in a black Audi 6 pulled up alongside them.

In a video he posted on Twitter and TikTok Billy, 81, said his daughter’s boyfriend had moved away to take a phone call leaving her with the children near the family’s Essex farm.
“The driver got out and she could see through the screen and there was a passenger and three other guys sat in the back,” the actor said.
“He walked up to her and he was very familiar with her chatting to her.”
Billy said the gang, who spoke with Eastern European accents, “kept looking at the children” and his daughter “had this terrible fear all of a sudden” and called over to her partner.
“He looked over and saw exactly what was happening because they guys in the back and the passenger were getting out of the car to approach the children.
“They were going to kidnap my grandchildren,” Billy said.
His daughter’s partner “yelled and screamed” at the youngsters to “run”.
As he dashed towards the motor the mob got inside and “squealed off” with their “tyres burning”.
Billy said the incident had been reported to police but they said they “could not do anything” because the men “never actually touched the children”.
He told his online followers: “Beware. They are out there. There are five guys in an Audi 6. I don’t usually do this sort of thing but it’s affected me personally.”
