Alongside the post, Melissa wrote a lengthy paragraph and assured her followers that change is “normal and inevitable.”

She penned: “I’ve gained weight over Christmas. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Here’s why it’s not a big deal.

I’m going to gain weight for the rest of my life. I’m going to lose it too. If I made a huge deal out of every time my body weight changed I’d basically live in a constant state of *huge deal*. I know this because it literally used to be me.”

Melissa continued: “Change is normal and inevitable. If I’m only happy with one very specific version of myself, I’m going to spend a lot of time unhappy. And I flat out refuse to do that anymore. Every version of me is temporary, and every version deserves my respect.”

The blonde beauty admitted she gained weight but assured “life is about balance” which means she would never change her lifestyle at Christmas to “avoid” this outcome.

“I try not to talk about when I gain and lose weight, mainly because it’s not anyone else’s business, but also because I don’t want to give any energy to focusing on it as a goal,” the former soap star added.

She signed the post off by saying: “May 2023 be the year I listen to my needs and act accordingly, showing myself the respect I deserve – no matter what the end goal is.”

Melissa’s Instagram followers headed straight to the comments to praise her on being a “healthy role model” for women.
