EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth gives fans glimpse of her very special eco-home

EastEnders legend Kacey Ainsworth has given fans a glimpse of her very special forever eco-home that some people thought she was “mad” to create.

The actress, 54, who played Little Mo in the BBC soap between 2000 and 2006, moved into the property in 2008 and wanted to make her “forever home” sustainable and energy efficient.

And she’s done just that, sharing a snap on Instagram and saying: “Fifteen years ago today we moved into our eco house.

“I had done huge amounts of research into building a sustainable energy efficient forever home. I didn’t have huge amounts of money so tenacity was required. Some folk thought I was mad.

“We could have thrown up a traditional house and there were problems, a leaky roof and our solar panels are now obsolete.”

“But our house is still working as per the plan. No fancy gadgets. The basics. Great Insulation, energy efficient heating, triple argon filled glazing and MHRS ventilation… furnished with vintage finds.”

Kacey, who lives with partner Darren Hales and their two kids Elwood and Blossom, added she had no more cash for landscaping, and that there was more to be done.

Back in December she shared a series of snaps from a family skiing trip, and now has bright blonde hair – a far cry from the rather dowdy character she played on EastEnders.

She told followers: “We are here in France celebrating my children’s French heritage and for the World Cup Final. This red sky heralds the arrival of my beautiful daughter, Blossom.”
