EastEnders’ Whitney star Shona McGarty gives brutal response to BBC soap script dig

EastEnders ‘ Shona McGarty had a witty comment as she “stirred the pot” over the her character’s latest storyline.

Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) has been fuming about newcomer Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) trying to make a move on Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

As Whitney snapped at Bernie following a conversation about the newcomers, Whitney was hit with some home truths from Linda Carter [Kellie Bright].

Linda told Whitney that Gina was “not the first woman to make a move on someone else’s man” in a stark reminder of Whitney’s affair with Mick Carter in 2017.

As the comment was shared to Twitter by BBC EastEnders, the actress made her thoughts known.

She said: “As a fan… I love that this was mentioned! Just brilliant. Love these moments in soap. But Mick was into it… just saying… uh oh.”

Shona then shared a clip joking at her stirring the pot as fans rushed to share their own commentary.

One user wrote: “it’s these little character moments briefly mentioning the past that separates soap from any other type of story telling! EastEnders does it the best! The show’s on fire right now.”

Another cheekily added: “Oh he was 100% into it!”

Mick and Whitney’s romance was short-lived though and she’s now focusing on her relationship with Zack.

Whitney and Zack faced challenges in their relationship after the pair lost their baby.

Further struggles emerged after she found out he had been diagnosed with HIV and accused him of lying to her.

After she kicked him out, she did some research and he told her that it would soon be undetectable and they would be able to try for another baby.

It came after they discovered their daughter Peach was unlikely to live past birth after being diagnosed with Edwards’ syndrome, prompting the pair to terminate the pregnancy.

In the months since their relationship challenges the duo have focused on rebuilding their partnership – but the arrival of the Knights family has been another spanner in the works.
