GB News chaos as host fails to announce Daniel Khalife’s arrest in huge blunder

GB News descended into chaos when it tried to break the news that terror suspect Daniel Khalife had been caught.

The show suffered several big blunders on Saturday (September 9) afternoon as presenter Martin Daubney struggled to announce the capture of the 21-year-old fugitive.

And a ton of viewers rushed to X, formerly Twitter, to mock the channel’s handling of the breaking news story after watching it all go wrong on-air.

Former MP Daubney was announcing the latest headlines as a clip of PM Rishi Sunak appeared on the screen when he found out about Khalife’s arrest.

“First, it’s the news headlines,” he began before stopping in his tracks, awkwardly correcting himself and stumbling over his words.

In a bid to announce Khalife’s arrest to viewers, the host said: “No it’s not, we’re going straight to me. This is breaking news, it’s fast happening…”

Martin ended up referring to the 21-year-old prison escapee as a “terror man” and appeared to swear as he admitted: “It’s all gone wrong.”

He couldn’t help laughing at the blunders and stopped to pick up a sheet of paper before he continued: “It’s here, Chip Chapman, we have him coming up soon on the arrest of the terror suspect.

However, he failed to name Khalife, leaving less clued-up viewers wondering who he was talking about.

Daubney went on: “He escaped from Wandsworth prison. He’s been apprehended, it’s all coming up on GB News.”

Finally, words appeared on his teleprompter but they appeared to be in the wrong order as he proceeded to stumble over his words yet again.

He seemed to say: “Here it is. Police of escape… have arrested prisoner Daniel Khalife, beg your pardon, we’ll get the autocue in the right place. This story is just happening.”

And just when viewers thought it couldn’t get any worse, Martin wrongly announced that Home Security editor Mark White was joining them, but it was previously announced Chip Chapman, the former head of counter terrorism.

Daubney asked: “Are you there, Mark?” and an awkward pause ensued before Chip appeared on the screen and the presenter corrected himself.

Fans mocked the station online, with one writing: “Daniel Khalife had been found in Chiswick and apprehended by police. Martin Daubney here on GB News #GBNews making an absolute horlicks of this important breaking news. It’s like a parody of amateur it’s that bad!”
