GMB suffers awkward blunder live on-air with Ben Shephard forced to intervene

Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh made an awkward live blunder – and her co-host was quick to correct her.

The hit ITV show was back for another instalment on Thursday (August 10) with Ben Shephard and Ranvir back at the helm.

On the programme, the hosts were discussing the mysterious totem pole that appeared on a clifftop overnight near Dover, sparking wild speculations over how it got there.

“Look at this it’s beautiful in Dorset,” Ranvir gushed, as a shot of the clifftop and the stunning views appeared on the screen.

The pole then appeared, with Ranvir quipping: “Oh there it is, the totem pole nobody knows where it’s come from.”

But Ranvir was wrong and instead read out the wrong town on the autocue.

Ben was quick to correct her, chiming in: “That’s in Dover not Dorset, someone’s put Dorset there.”

The 8ft (2.4 metres) wooden pole is inscribed with the name of the Baltic god of thunder Perkunas.

It was erected on the clifftops on the North Downs Way in Kent – which is between Folkestone and Dover.

In order for the pole to stay on the cliff though, Kent Wildlife Trust is seeking retrospective planning permission and has appealed for the artist to come forward.

A spokesman for the trust said on Twitter: “The local council has given us eight weeks to submit planning permission and it would be great to track down the person behind Perkūnas to get a bit more detail so we can keep it.”

It added: “It is not quite a Banksy, but perhaps the totem pole artist equivalent?”

In other GMB news, Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh were accused of not being “natural” presenters on the show during Wednesday’s instalment (9 August).

As soon as the programme started, one viewer shared a GIF of a woman rolling her eyes, with the caption: “Ed Balls & Ranvir Singh presenting again.”

Another sniped: “Ed & Ranvir – making people realise how easy natural presenters like Ruth & Eamonn/Ant & Dec make it look!
