Gogglebox's Lee Riley swears three times live on air forcing BBC's Zoe Ball to apologise

Gogglebox favourites Lee Riley and Jenny Newby sent Radio 2 into chaos after swearing three times live on-air.

The two Channel 4 stars are back on TV screens every Friday at 9pm for a brand new series where they critique the latest bits of telly.

And on Wednesday (March 8) the pair appeared on the Zoe Ball Breakfast show to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Gogglebox.

But things soon took an awkward turn when Lee swore live on-air – causing host Zoe to profusely apologise to listeners.

The two played a game where they were shaken clips of themselves and had to guess what TV show or film they were reacting to.

In one of the rounds, Lee responded with: “Oh yes that green s***, oh s***, I said s***, sorry.”

Quickly realising his blunder, he apologised while Zoe told listeners: “Lee it’s ok, we’ll just say sorry, sorry for the language, Jenny, stop laughing.

“Do you know what, Liam Gallagher’s been on and he managed not to swear, so if it’s going to be anyone, it’s going to be Lee off Gogglebox.”

Listeners soon took to social media to share their amusement at Lee’s on-air faux-paus.

“CREASING AT LEE FROM GOGGLEBOX SAYING SH*T ON RADIO 2″ said one person, which they followed with a number of crying emojis.

Someone else gushed: “Loved this interview this morning, Jenny & Lee are fabulous.”

“I want to spend just one night with Jenny and Lee from gogglebox,” a third listener added.

The duo returned to screens last month for the new series, alongside other favourites such as sisters Izzi and Ellie Warner, brother-sister duo Pete and Sophie Sandiford and couple Stephen and Daniel.

In other Gogglebox news, Celebrity Gogglebox star Dame Sheila Hancock has said she was “sacked” from the show.

The 90-year-old TV favourite had appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Gyles Brandreth, but after moaning about how much nudity was in the scheduled programming, she hasn’t been asked to return.

Sheila is the second of Gyles’ partners to be cut from the TV show – with Maureen Lipman also making a comment about watching the likes of Naked Attraction on the show.

Speaking on her exit, Sheila told The Mirror: “I used to love doing it with Gyles, but they sacked me from that. Well, they did not ask me back.

She said she believed it was because she complained about the “show with penises”.

Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4 at 9pm
