The cause of death for Goodfellas star Ray Liotta has been confirmed a year after he passed away.
It has been revealed that the Hollywood actor died of acute heart failure and fluid in his lungs at age 67 while also suffering from atherosclerosis, which is a narrowing of the arteries.
TMZ obtained documents that explained that the star’s death was natural and non-violent after he was found dead in his hotel room in the Dominican Republic last year.

At the time, it was announced that he had died in his sleep at Casas del XVI in Zona Colonial hotel and he could not be saved by the emergency services.
Liotta was survived by his daughter Karsen and his fiancé Jacy Nittolo.
The actor had been starring in the Elizabeth Banks film Cocaine Bear and was due to star alongside the likes of Demi Moore in the ongoing project The Substance.
Born in New Jersey, Ray enjoyed a number of hit roles, including Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams (1989) and Something Wild (1986), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.
Video game lovers would also recognise him as Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002).
The actor also starred in films such as Unlawful Entry (1992), Hannibal (2001), The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), and Wild Hogs (2007), where he appeared with John Travolta.
At the time Hollywood was shocked and tributes from fellow stars poured in for the actor.
Hollywood actor Robert Denero wrote: “I was very saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He is way too way young to have left us.”
On-screen wife in Goodfellas Lorraine Bracco added: “I’m utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about Ray.”
Josh Brolin penned: “My buddy. My friend. How so soon? Why? I’ll miss you. I will think about seeing you at Gold’s.'”
