Gwyneth Paltrow has been widely mocked on social media platforms after being accused of turning up at court looking like serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
The Shakespeare in Love Oscar-winning actress drew comparisons to the notorious Milwaukee Cannibal due to her choice of aviator-style glasses for the opening day of her Utah ski trial.
They resembled the spectacles that sex offender Dahmer wore in his infamous 1991 police mugshot prior to being convicted for killing and dismembering 17 men and boys during a murderous 13-year period.

Such was the likeness that one observer on Twitter even claimed people were convinced that Ms Paltrow must have bought Dahmer’s glasses when they were put up for sale for $150,000 (£122,000) in October.

The tweet read: “People are wondering if she bought Jeffrey Dahmer‘s glasses. They were for sale for $150k from a collector who also got his bible and other items.”
“She looks like Jeffrey Dahmer’s sister,” declared another comment on the social media platform – a theme that a second Twitter user followed when asking: “Is this female Jeffrey Dahmer? Maybe someone should tell her not to show up on trial looking like a serial killer?”
A fourth joked: “Stole Jeffrey Dahmer’s whole swag,” whilst a fifth quipped: “Channelling her inner Jeffrey Dahmer.”

Ms Paltrow is being sued by 76-year-old retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, who claims he suffered brain damage caused by the Hollywood star crashing into him in 2016 on the slopes of the Deer Valley resort.
The 50-year-old, meanwhile, is counter-suing Mr Henderson for $1, as she claims that he sustained the serious head injury after crashing into her.
During the first day of the trial that is expected to last eight days, Ms Paltrow shielded her face from photographers with a blue “GP”-initialled notebook as she entered and exited the courtroom.
