Harrison Ford has sweet reunion with Indiana Jones co-star 40 years after film’s release

Harrison Ford had an emotional reunion with former co-star Ke Huy Quan during the US premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny — 40 years after they starred together.

On Wednesday (June 14) the fifth and final installment of the Indiana Jones franchise premiered at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Ford, 80, who reprised his role as the buccaneering archaeologist from the original films, made an appearance at the event, as did Ke Huy Quan, now 51, who played young Shanghai cab driver Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom at the age of 12.

The pair emotionally greeted each other at the event, as Quan, who recently won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, wrapped his arms around his former co-star.

“You’re all grown up,” Ford was heard saying as the two actors shared their embrace.

The Dial of Destiny wasn’t the actors’ first reunion, with the two meeting up at the D23 Expo last year, hardly recognising each other after so many years off of the set of Temple of Doom.

“Are you Short Round?” the older actor allegedly asked South Vietnam native Quan at the event, the latter told Men’s Health.

Ford raved about Quan’s performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, telling Men’s Health that Quan was “really terrific in his movie” and that he was “so happy” for the actor.

Ford and Quan were also reunited at the Oscars in March, where Ford appeared on stage to present the Academy Award for best picture to Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, in which Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary artefact that can change the course of history, will be shown in US cinemas from June 30 and is likely to be a worldwide hit.

The stellar cast includes Fleabag actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen.

Directed by James Mangold, it boasts legendary directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as executive producers, while John Williams, who created the music for each of the four Indiana adventures so far including the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, has once again composed the score.
