ITV Big Brother’s Trish ‘axed’ from live final by bosses after offensive tweet scandal

Big Brother star Trish Balusa has reportedly been axed from the live final on Friday (November 17) after her “racist and homophobic” tweets resurfaced.

Fans of the iconic reality show were floored when the stay-at-home mum, 33, was evicted from the house last week. Just days later, remarks made by Trish from around 10 years ago began circulating online.

Trish was then banned from taking part in Big Brother: Late and Live. ITV also revealed they were investigating the third party who seemed to miss the comments during a background check.

And now, it’s reported that Trish’s invite to the show’s grand final on Friday (November 17) has been withdrawn. Bosses are also said to have been in crisis talks all week on what to do.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Trish was keen to attend but production decided it was best if she didn’t come and told her she was no longer invited. They didn’t want to look like they were endorsing Trish’s opinions, even though she has apologised for them, and they felt it was a distraction from the final.”

The insider also alleged how Trish was “disappointed” to hear news but “respects the show’s wishes.” And while she won’t be making an appearance at the final, she reportedly won’t be erased from the show completely.

The source claimed that she will still be included “in the VT packages,” and will be “very much part of the show.” The insider explained: “Aside from her misguided social media activity, she was still a huge key player in the series and a great housemate, so it wouldn’t have been fair to act like she was never in the house.”

In a statement, Trish said there were “no excuses” for her tweets which date back to 2011. She also said she was “deeply disappointed” in herself.

The statement read: “I’m aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have resurfaced and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned. There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments.

“I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm these views cause. It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions.”

“I know apologies can seem convenient in these circumstances but I mean it from the bottom of my heart; I am truly sorry. I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe that people can change.”

“I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known me as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and is always open to growth and accountability. Love Trish.”
