ITV I’m A Celeb viewers slam ‘unfair’ format change as major stars booted from camp

I’m A Celebrity…South Africa fans are blasting the show’s format as “unfair” after two show favourites were kicked off the show.

As fans tuned into the latest episode tonight (May 8) they saw Myleene Klass and Jordan Banjo take on Georgia Toffolo and Andy Whyment as the teams battled it out for a gourmet picnic.

But the former Made In Chelsea star and the Coronation Street legend were sent home from the South African jungle after losing out in the Gold Rush challenge to their fellow campmates.

They were tasked with digging for gold nuggets and putting them on a scale – with the first team to get the scales to tip the other way being able to return to camp, whilst the others had to go straight home.

But fans called out what they deemed an unfair format, claiming that the strongest players were the ones doing the challenges and risking their spot in camp, while the weakers one chose to sit out in the comfort of camp.

“The format of I’m a celeb has been horrendous. Getting rid of 2 of the strongest from each team & letting the weak ones choose not to do things & go through to maybe the final with no trials is so dumb,” blasted one fan.

Another said: “I thought this #imaceleb was about finding the ultimate winner? It’s stupid if all the strong ones like TOFF go out over the weak refusing to do trials!?? This format is stupid… it needs work.“

While a third chimed in: “Should have been Janice/Carole who left. Not fair that the strong ones are leaving when the whole point of the show is that you have to be strong to survive! Toff and Andy should have been exempt from the survival trial because they also did the last one.”

When she entered the jungle this time around, Toff explained what an “honour” it was to return.

“Having the opportunity to do the jungle once is a great honour because not many people in the whole world have that privilege. And so, to be asked the second time is just next-level kind of stuff,” she said.

Ahead of his stint, Corrie legend Andy admitted he didn’t think it would be any different – and wasn’t worried about winning.

“I don’t think it is going to be too different. I was in it three years ago and so it is still quite a fresh memory for me. If someone did it 15 years ago, then that will feel alien to them!” he said, “I am going to do what I did last time and embrace the experience.”

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa airs Monday to Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm
