ITV I’m A Celeb’s Boy George ‘feels his late mum’s presence’ and speaks to her every day

Pop legend Boy George says he still feels the “presence” of his late mum – and they have chats together.

The Karma Chameleon singer was devastated when his mother Dinah O’Dowd died last March aged 84.

George, 62, said: “Though I’d love a permanent cloud in the sky, I talk to her picture in the hallway every day. I can say what I like and she never answers back. Nothing rude.

“I just sit on the stairs and gabble away about what’s going on. I say, ‘I love you’, when I come in and when I go out. I feel Mum’s presence strongly. I hear her telling me to get on with my life and have a fantastic time.”

George recalls in his new book Karma how he also got a sign from his mother that she was nearing the end so that he could be by her side. He said: “Being with mum when she passed was a beautiful and painful gift.

“My calmness was unnerving. I wanted to fall apart and scream down the hospital walls but I knew Mum deserved more than me making it about me.”

George appeared on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here last year, starring alongside the likes of politician Matt Hancock and football star Jill Scott. But in his new book, Karma, he appeared to let loose on some camp secrets that viewers didn’t see.

Opening up on the show, the Culture Club frontman said subjects were often introduced by “planted questions” in order for the celebs to speak about certain topics. He also revealed that certain scenes that mocked MP Matt were cut out from the show as he felt ITV may have wanted him to win.
