Jack Nicholson, 86, makes rare public appearance after fears for Hollywood icon’s health

Jack Nicholson broke the protective cover of his home as he stepped out to sit front row at the LA Lakers game this week.

The Hollywood icon, who celebrated his 86th birthday earlier this month, has been absent from the spotlight in recent years and concerns have been growing for his health.

But he appeared in good spirits as he watched the LA Lakers play-off game on Friday night (April 28) alongside his son Ray.

It seems Jack was just as much the star attraction as the basketball game though, as a number of famous faces greeted him after months away from the showbiz circuit.

Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David approached him before the game started, while basketball legend LeBron James gave him a hug too.

Meanwhile, another sports fan told The Departed star: “Welcome back.”

Sports fan Jack hadn’t been seen at a Lakers game since way back in October 2021, and it’s believed he has become a bit of a recluse more recently.

Earlier in April he was seen for the first time in 18 months as he relaxed at his Beverly Hills mansion.

Fears had been growing for Jack’s health, however he appeared to throw doubt over concerns as he was seen smiling and looking smart at the Lakers game this week.

In January of this year, reports emerged suggesting Jack had no plans to return to the glitz and glam of Hollywood.

A source at the time claimed to Radar Online: “He’s made it clear his home is his castle.

“But people just wish he’d come out of the house and pop up to tell them how — or at least reassure folks he’s OK.

“Jack’s in touch with certain relatives — especially [son] Ray, his protégé, who he’s so proud of — but his socialising days are long gone.”

The octogenarian hasn’t been on-screen since 2010 but his IMDB page lists one upcoming project – a television adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s lost movie Napoleon, though it’s not clear if Jack will actually star.
