Jane Fonda, 85, will only date ’20-year-old toyboy’ as she makes ‘shameful’ confession

Jane Fonda, 85, says she has some rather unusual requirements for her next lover – namely that he has to be more than 60 years younger than her.

The veteran actress confessed that after three failed marriages, she’s looking for a totally different kind of fling. Speaking on the Absolutely Not podcast with Heather McMahan, Jane admitted she was “ashamed” by her feelings.

She said: “I’m ashamed to say this, but if I were to take a lover, he’d have to be 20. Oh yeah.” Asked why, Jane said: “Because I don’t like old skin.”

Host Heather replied: “I’m right there with you. I’m doing everything I can to keep it fresh.”

Jane has always insisted she has a younger mindset than her years. She admitted during another podcast appearance: “Spiritually and mentally and psychologically, I’m way younger. One of the things that I’ve learned as I’ve gotten into serious old age is when you’re inside it as opposed to looking at it from the outside, it’s not nearly as scary.”

The star left fans divided with her latest comments on X – formerly known as Twitter – however. While plenty found her remarks hilarious, others weren’t so sure. One fan wrote: “I love this woman. So freaking honest! And funny.” Another echoed: “Y’all are not about to try and cancel Jane plz. She’s being funny.”

But someone else said: “20? I’m not even half her age and I think 20 is too young for my age.” While another social media user agreed: “What about if the 20-year-old doesn’t like old skin?”

Back in 2021, Jane confessed she’s still interested in sex – but it has to be with the right man. She told Harper’s Bazaar: “I’ll just put it out there. If I meet a professor or a researcher, somebody in that line who is really capable of loving, of cherishing a woman, so that I could test myself and see if I could show up.”

Just a few years prior, when she was 80, the star said she’d “closed up shop down there” when confirming she was single – and she’s done with “alpha males”. She said: “Some men have a hard time realizing that the woman they’re married to is strong and smart and they have to diminish that, because it makes them feel diminished. Too bad we have defined masculinity in such a way that it’s so easily shamed.”

The Grace and Frankie star has been married three times – first to Roger Vadim from 1965 until 1973. Three days after her divorce came through she married Tom Hayden, a relationship that lasted until 1990. She was already three months pregnant with Hayden’s baby at the wedding, and gave birth to son Troy months later.

While she and Hayden were estranged from 1989, Jane moved on with football player Lorenzo Caccialanza for seven months. She married her last husband, Ted Turner, in 1991 and divorced him a decade later.

From 2009 until 2017 she was in a long-term relationship with record producer Richard Perry, though the two never tied the knot. She has also dated management consultant Lynden Gillis.
