Jason Donovan has admitted he was ‘surprised’ when he found out Neighbours was being rebooted so soon.
It comes not long after Neighbours couple Jason and Kylie Minogue agreed to return for its supposed “final episode” last summer.
The former onscreen and offscreen couple had reprised their iconic roles as Scott and Charlene to bid farewell to the long-standing Australian soap.

Speaking with Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson on Virgin Radio, Jason Donovan said: “To be honest with you, it was a surprise.”
Asked if he felt like he’d been done dirty after his guest appearance on the supposed last episode, Jason said: “I think you can look at it two ways. You can look at it that way.
Or you can look at it the way that we created such a storm that there was only one way for it to go, and that was to bow down to public pressure and Amazon’s Mr Bezos… is that his name?
“Bow down to The Bezos and bring it back.”
He added: “Look, I was surprised. I’m not gonna lie to you. I think it happened very quickly! But quick is good!”
Kylie admitted she was “miffed” that the show was returning so soon and that she was “interested” to see how the storylines progress.
Sources in Melbourne, the iconic filming location of Neighbours, claim pop superstar Kylie, now 54, is questioning her decision to come back for a supposed final appearance.
