Kerry Katona in tears as she lashes out at ‘fake’ This Morning and ‘toxic’ ITV culture

Kerry Katona has hit out at the ‘toxic” culture at ITV and slammed This Morning in a new bombshell interview.

The former Atomic Kitten singer appeared on GB News show Dan Wootton Tonight on Wednesday (May 31) evening to air thoughts after Phillip Schofield’s sudden departure from the daytime show.

He stepped back from presenting the programme with “immediate effect” earlier this month after admitting to lying about having an affair with a “younger male colleague” while married to his wife.

Former Loose Women panellist Kerry appeared on This Morning in 2008 and Phillip accused her of slurring her words in a now infamous interview.

The former I’m A Celebrity winner clarified that she was on heavy medication for her bipolar disorder and says Phillip later apologised.

Despite previously saying she didn’t have an issue with Phillip anymore, Kerry didn’t hold back as she spoke to Dan.

She said: “When I got home after that interview It was like a crime scene with all the paparazzi and ITV never reached out to me.

“Even now when I go back to ITV there’s snobbery. I’m not hear to jump on the bandwagon but to to vocalise the lack of aftercare and toxicity.”

As Dan played back Kerry’s interview with Phillip and former co-host Fern Britton, the reality star became emotional.

She said: “When I look at that video I feel so ashamed.

“I still have to just justify myself for that interview.”

Kerry went on to brand This Morning as “false” and that she can “barely watch it”.

“The show is fake, phoney and it’s false,” she said.

“Us as civilians, we look at them and think this is what we’re supposed to be but It’s all b***shit.”

Kerry has previously worked as a guest presenter on the show and went on to issue Holly Willoughby some advice.

The current This Morning presenter issued a statement stating that she was unaware of Phillip’s affair and says he has “hurt” her.

“The crew is amazing and don’t need anything of this,” Kerry.

“If I was Holly, I’d go, I’m done and I’m off. I’m going, i’m putting out areal statement and going.

“For a long time I’ve not been able to watch ITV. I don’t wish anybody any harm but This Morning triggers me.”

Kerry’s appearance on GB News comes after she called for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to mark a comeback to This Morning.

“I used to love Eamonn and Ruth on the show, lets get them back,” the mother of five told Daily Mirror.

“It’s not even that I’ve got an issue with Phil these days. He apologised to me after pointing out I was slurring my words on the show in 2008 and we’ve got on ever since.

“It’s more that when you’re watching the show, you want to believe in their relationship don’t you? I can’t even watch it now because it makes me cringe.”

An ITV spokesperson said the broadcaster had been “badly let down” by the “admissions of deceit” made by Phillip after the presenter admitted to the affair.

“We are deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit made tonight by Phillip Schofield,” A spokesperson said.

“The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. “Phillip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.”
