Lady Gaga went bankrupt and was £2.3million in debt after Monster Ball tour

Grammy award-winning actress Lady Gaga has revealed that she was bankrupt and in debt after her second worldwide concert tour Monster Ball.

The star explained that she didn’t even know that she had gone bankrupt and was confused at how she had “ran out of money” with ” five No. 1 singles”

The 37-year-old also explained that money means nothing” to her and pursuing a career as a pop star has never been about the money.

The pop sensation told the Financial Times: “I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of The Monster Ball.

“And it was funny because I didn’t know!

“I remember I called everybody and said, ‘Why is every­one saying I have no money? This is ridiculous, I have five No. 1 singles.’ And they said, ‘Well, you’re $3 million (£2.3million) in debt.’

Luckily Gaga was able to pull herself out of debt due to the sheer quality and popularity” of her work.

It didn’t seem to last long as In 2018, Gaga had already earned $50 million as of July, Forbes reports.

She added: “The beauty for me about being an artist is that the dream will never die, because I’m not obsessed with material things and don’t care about the money and don’t care about the attention of the public, but only the love of my fans

“So for me, it’s about how much more devoted, how much better an artist can I become.”

She the explained that she doesn’t lead an extravagant lifestyle: “The only big things I’ve purchased are my dad’s heart valve and a Rolls-Royce for my parents, for their anniversary. … Other than that, I put everything in the show.”

Lady Gaga has won many awards for her work including Grammy’s and the songstress previously won an Oscar in 2019 for Best Original Song for the track Shallow from A Star Is Born.

She said on social media in January: “Thank you so much to the academy for nominating my song Hold My Hand for an Oscar this year!

“Writing this song for the film Top Gun: Maverick was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget,” adding: “So grateful for the magic of music and cinema.”
