Lorraine issues health update as presenter finally returns to ITV show after illness

Lorraine Kelly finally returned to her ITV programme on Monday after falling ill last week.

The presenter, 63, was sent home last Wednesday (February 22) just moments before going live on air, leaving Ranvir Singh to step in for the next three days while Lorraine recovered at home.

Sharing a health update with Good Morning Britain presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, Lorraine revealed she was on the road to recovery before thanking Ranvir for being her last minute replacement.

“Thank you so much love. She’s absolutely brilliant, as always. She’s superwoman, she’s superwoman!”

Taking to Twitter after falling ill, Lorraine confirmed she had been hit with a “hideous” bug and was gutted because it meant she would miss interviewing Adam Lambert.

Addressing her absence, she wrote: “When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him!”

The news of the last-minute shake-up was revealed on Wednesday, with Kate Garraway telling GMB viewers: “Usually at this point in the show we’d be chatting to Lorraine.

“But I think in almost a first in her 30-year-plus history, she’s actually gone home, she’s not well.

“She’s got a bug! We’re wishing you well Lorraine. Ranvir is to the rescue, she’s on her way in.”

ITV favourite Ranvir revealed that she had been rushed into work to help out ITV bosses when they needed a last minute replacement.

“I got a call from the editor at 7.18 and I was on the train at 7.30,” she revealed before wishing Lorraine well.

The following day, Ranvir was back in Lorraine’s seat and revealed on GMB: “Lorraine is still recovering.

“I got here at 6:30am today – I should be prepared, as opposed to yesterday.”
