Lorraine slammed for 'downplaying' Prince Harry 'attack' claims against Prince William

Lorraine Kelly has rubbed up ITV viewers the wrong way as she addressed Prince Harry’s claim that his brother Prince William “knocked him to the floor” during a physical altercation.

The Duke of Sussex has alleged that he was involved in a bust up with the future King after he branded his wife Meghan Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.

According to a leaked excerpt from his upcoming memoir Spare published in The Guardian, Harry has said the row escalated and William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

Speaking about the leak to the publication, Lorraine said the Guardian is “probably one of the few Meghan and Harry trust a tiny, little bit”.

“Honestly it’s like a soap opera. The whole thing about the necklace and the dog bowl, it’s not exactly a Die Hard fistycuffs is it?

“Do you remember that fight seen in Bridget Jones with Hugh Grant and it was just hilarious and it sounds a wee bit like that.”

Lorraine’s comments left some viewers unimpressed with some rushing to discuss her remarks on social media.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Typical Lorraine downplaying disgusting behaviour shown towards Harry and Meghan.”

Another added: “So Lorraine downplays an assault by one person on another. Don’t remember it being that way when Will Smith smacked Chris Rock.”

A third person said: “So far today #gmb have discussed Harry and Meghan for 40+ minutes, no doubt #Lorraine, #ThisMorning and #LooseWomen will spend even more time on them, all whilst the country is in a crisis.”

Co-host Ben Shephard then added: “It might take a long time, hopefully at some point they will, because they are still brothers who have been through what they’ve been through as children, losing their mum like they did.”

“And they are uncles to each other’s children, [which is] such an important thing.”

“We’ve got the coronation this year of course,’ Reid pointed out. ‘Can he [Harry] be here for the coronation? It would be desperate if he’s not.”
