When asked to name an Australian actress, in her 30s, who started life in an Australian soap, before making it big in Hollywood, chances are you’ll say Margot Robbie.
However, hot on her heels was Samara Weaving, the 31-year-old actress who starred in a whopping 336 episodes of Home And Away as Indi Walker, before going on to achieve Hollywood acclaim in films such as Ready Or Not and Bill & Ted Face the Music.
But it’s not just their journey to the US that’s similar – Samara is also constantly confused with the Suicide Squad star.

Their likeness is so uncanny that Samara said she is regularly approached by excited fans who believe they’re meeting the Oscar-nominated actress.
“I’ve tried saying, ‘No, it’s not who you think it is,’ but because I also have an Australian accent, people still think I’m Margot and that she’s being really rude. Now I just stand there like her,” she told WHO Magazine.
Samara also said she was once approached for a photo by a young Margot fan who thought she was finally meeting her idol.
“I didn’t have the heart to tell her I wasn’t her, so I just stood there and tried to copy her [Margot’s] smile,’ she recalled.”

However, it’s not just looks and journey to Hollywood that Samara shares with former Neighbours star Margot, as there’s also a willingness to strip in front of the camera.
As Margot showed in The Wolf of Wall street, Samara also demonstrated in the 2020 flick Last Moment of Clarity that saw the star stripping naked for a sultry sex scene.
In the film, in which she starred alongside Zac Avery, Samara left nothing to the imagination with her full-frontal nudity as she cuddled close with her on-screen beau.
At 5.2/10 on IMDb the film might not be on the radar of the Oscars, but it may be memorable at least for the flash of flesh.
