Margot Robbie wants lesbian romance with actress as she pushes for Harley Quinn tryst

Margot Robbie has admitted that she wants to see a lesbian romance involving one of the characters she plays on-screen.

The Aussie actress said she has been pushing hard for years for the dream team of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy to get together, as that side of the character hasn’t been explored in the movies.

Robbie, 32, said she wants the DC supervillain to have a relationship with fellow evildoer Poison Ivy in a live-action movie, as she does in a cartoon.

Having treated audiences to her performances as the iconic Harley Quinn in DC’s Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad, it is unclear whether she herself would return to the role to hook up with Poison Ivy.

However, the star has said that she is keen on the idea.

“I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I want it. I want it too,” she told ComicBook.com.

When asked if she had any actors in mind to play her romantic opposite, she said: “Honestly, when I pictured it, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. I don’t really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good.”

It was announced earlier this year that Lady Gaga will be playing the character in Joker: Folie A Deux opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Joker is not set in the same universe as the DCEU, which means Lady Gaga isn’t replacing Robbie.

Robbie spoke with MTV News, about the alternate universe version of Harley.

“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman, always gets passed from great actor to great actor,” she said.

“It’s kind of like someone gets to do their Batman, or someone gets to do their Macbeth.

“I feel like, in not so many cases, are they female characters. It’s such an honour to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing.

“And I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”
