Former child star Mara Wilson has been busy putting together video messages for her fans — and some of them have been getting more than they’ve asked for.
Mara, 36, has shared a bunch of her Cameo outtakes on Instagram, and they show how she’s regularly interrupted by her cats while she’s trying to record her message. A black and white chap seems to particularly enjoy the limelight.
In one clip, Mara holds up the loveable cat for everyone to see. In another she asks him: “Why is it always you? Why are you the one who wants attention? I don’t get it.”

But Mara seems to be being a little tough on her black and white pal, because it doesn’t seem to be always his fault. In one of the other clips, the nose of what appears to be a tabby pops into shot.
Mara captioned the videos: “I give you: CAMEOS RUINED BY CATS! So adorable, and so annoying when I’m filming. BUT! If you’d like to get a Cameo from me, with or without an annoying cat, I’d love to make a video for you.”
Mara shot to fame as a child actor in a series of 1990s Hollywood blockbusters, including playing the lead role in Matilda, Natalie Hillard in Mrs Doubtfire and Susan Walker in Miracle On 34th Street. After her exciting early career, she took a break from the screen but became active again about a decade ago.
Since then she’s focused on web productions rather than TV or movie roles. The funny antics of her feline companions struck a chord with her fans on Instagram.
“I would actually love a Cameo containing a cat cameo. That’s a bonus,” says one fan. Another pointed out the “dress code” of the black and white cutie, they joked: “He’s gone to the trouble of wearing a tuxedo, so of course he wants to be seen.”
A third commenter added: “Mara this is the exact opposite of a problem! I’d pay extra for a double cameo featuring a cute chatty kitty.” Someone else suggested she should just leave them to it: “Mara, maybe you should just let your cats do their own Cameos as it seems to be moving in that direction. Then again, they lack opposable thumbs so there could be a few difficulties…”
