Maya Jama 'will bring in new audience' with racy Love Island debut, says ITV champ

Finley Tapp has gushed over Love Island host Maya Jama as she prepares to make her villa debut later today after taking over from Laura Whitmore.

The Bristolian beauty was tipped to replace Whitmore who stepped down after just two years to focus on other projects.

However, it appears that 28-year-old Maya has already made quite an impression on Finn who won the programme alongside Scottish beauty Paige Turley in 2020.

The 23-year-old said: “I think she’ll be brilliant, I think similar to Laura, everyone thought Laura would be brilliant when she went on to do an amazing job.

“So, I think Maya will just be as good and I do think she will do really well for the show.

“I think there will be sort of a different audience that might start watching.”

Speaking about coming out of the villa and keeping their relationship both private and public, Finn explained: “It’s certainly a balance, you want to make sure you’re offering the support and helped vote for you and stuff.

“They want an insight of what you’re up to and things that are coming up but then equally, there’s stuff you just want to keep private – if you want to go out for dinner without posting it on social media.

“There’s certainly a balance, I think it’s just about finding the right balance.”

Speaking about the pressure former Islanders face after followers speculate that they may not be together after not sharing snaps of one another online.

He said: “That’s quite annoying, it’s like, you’ll spend maybe a week apart and people start assuming you’ve broken up.

“Everyone needs that little bit of time where we’re not going to be posting all week long.

“It’s just finding that right balance and keeping everyone updated but equally not feeling like it’s a chore and not needing to do it every single day.”

Since leaving the villa, both Paige and Finn have thrown themselves into charity work, including promoting Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, with Finn explaining: “If you can outreach to people on both of our platforms for these charities, it just grows the interest in the people that are going to see it.

“It’s always important to use our platforms, we’re very fortunate to have such a big platform and it’s brilliant to use that for the good stuff.”
