Meghan Markle’s unique way of making Pimm’s leaves British fans fuming at Duchess

Meghan Markle has divided the nation with her unique way of making Pimm’s – a traditional British cocktail.

Traditionally crafted with lemonade, mint, cucumber and various fruits, the alcoholic beverage is a delightful summer taster – but Meghan adds a few choice ingredients of her own to mix things up.

On her now defunct blog The Tig, the royal shared plenty of lifestyle tips with her fans and loyal readers, including a recipe for Meghan’s Signature Tig Cup – a twist on Pimm’s.

In her blog post, she wrote: “Sun kissed afternoons, cocktail in hand, surrounded by nothing but the laughter of your closest mates, an Otis Redding playlist, and the whistling breeze of the wind.

“I’m talking about perfection, people. The perfection that comes with summertime.”

Meghan then introduced The TIG Cup, explaining: “Sometimes the day calls for a cocktail. Having a love of all things Brit, I wanted to do a twist on their signature Pimm’s Cup.

“Using cues from the season, with fresh and vibrant farmers’ market ingredients, this drink will whet your whistle and keep you cool during those long summer days turned nights.

“This is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, and a nod to the fresh picked flavours of the season. Cheers!”

Aside from the traditional accompaniments, Meghan’s version includes radishes, “thin stalks of celery”, grapefruit rind and gin.

It also includes Maraschino cherry liqueur, along with “soda water, tonic water, fresh ribbons of cucumber and ice”.

But fans are not happy over the changes, with one commenter fuming: “Yeah, no. A Pimm’s Cup is LITERALLY Pimm’s and lemonade (which in Britain is 7-Up or Sprite) and some cucumber and strawberries (or whatever you have on hand).

“This is just extra for the sake of being extra. A Pimm’s Cup is my favourite drink ever, there’s no need to ‘do a twist’ on it. It’s easy enough to make as it is.”

Another social media user said: “She takes a classic and ruins the simplicity of it.”

As somebody else posted: “You know she just googled a Pimm’s recipe and added some ridiculous ingredient to sound edgy.”

However, others were quick to defend Meghan, with one fuming that critics should “leave Meghan alone”, with someone else agreeing: “She’s just added her own twist. What’s wrong with that?”
