Oprah Winfrey has showcased her incredible weight loss in a skintight lilac gown at the premiere for The Color Purple.
The chat show host, 69, wowed in a long-sleeved gown matching the theme of the evening, with a plunging neckline that left just a hint of cleavage on display. The floor-length gown then fell into a full train, allowing just a glimpse of her point-toed purple heels with silver floral embellishments.
Oprah clutched a glittery purple purse and opted for silver waterfall earrings and round glasses as she wowed on the purple carpet. Teasing her dark hair into elegant curls that fell around her shoulders, even her pout was painted a sparkly purple hue, with matching eyeshadow.

She famously appeared in the original 1985 film adaptation of the classic book under director Steven Spielberg – and earned an Oscar nomination for her incredible work. Now the new adaptation of The Color Purple is due to hit cinemas this Christmas.
Now Oprah is acting as producer on the 2023 flick, which stars The Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey, Corey Hawkins and Danielle Brooks. The story is a “decades-spanning tale of love and resilience” as main character Celie, played by Fantasia Barrino, faces hardships but ultimately triumphs with the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.
Oprah looked unrecognisable on the purple carpet as she showed off her incredible weight loss, which she says she has achieved through “resetting” her eating habits after years of yo-yo dieting. She insists weight loss drugs like Ozempic are not behind the transformation, branding them the “easy way out”.
While speaking on a New York City panel, she said: “I don’t know that there is another public person whose weight struggles have been exploited as much as mine.
“One of the things I carried so much shame for, and even when I first started hearing about the weight loss drugs, at the same time I was going through knee surgery and I felt, ‘I’ve got to do this on my own because if I take the drug, that’s the easy way out’.”

The star went on: “There’s a part of me that feels – like I think a lot of people feel with bariatric surgery – that I’ve got to do it the hard way, I’ve got to keep climbing the mountains, I’ve got to keep suffering and I’ve got to do that because otherwise I somehow cheated myself.”
The star said she is an “adipose storer”, and her body “seems to want to go back to a certain weight” despite trying numerous diets. She added: “This is a world that has shamed people for being overweight forever and all of us who have lived it know that people just treat you differently – they just do.”
