British Soap Awards viewers were left “in tears” when the show played a heartwarming Paul O’Grady tribute.
The biggest night in soapland kicked off on Tuesday night (June 6) as stars from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Doctors all came together for the glitzy do.
Hosted by Jane McDonald, the audience, and viewers at home, couldn’t get enough of her new gig.

Later on in the show, host Jane paused the star-studded do to introduce a remembrance segment.
A montage was then played of the the soap and showbiz stars who have passed away recently.
And it appears viewers couldn’t control themselves when Paul O’Grady’s face popped up – followed by a clip to his on stage at a previous Soap Awards do.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Paul O’Grady” followed by a heartbreak emoji.
Another added: “I was okay until Paul,” as someone else quipped: “Seeing Paul O’Grady still make me cry.”
“Oh Paul,” another said, along with a crying face emoji.
A fifth said: “Sobbing at the Paul o Grady memories on the soap awards.”
Paul sadly died “unexpectedly but peacefully” at his home on March 28, aged 67.
His funeral took place on April 20 and saw a number of animals form the guard of honour in a heartbreaking nod to his extensive work with Battersea Dogs and Cats home.
As for the British Soap Awards, and which soaps won – it was Corrie who trumped by bagging a whopping six gongs.
They won the award for Best Single Episode, Scene of the Year, Best Dramatic Performance, Best Comedy Performer, Best Newcomer and Best Family.
EastEnders won four awards, including Best Soap, two awards went to Hollyoaks, and both Emmerdale and Doctors received one piece of silverware each.
The Corrie acid attack storyline involving Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) won two awards.
Evelyn Plummer actress Maureen Lipman was crowned winner of Best Comedy Performer beating off competition from Hollyoaks’ Kieron Richardson, EastEnders’ Jonny Freeman, Emmerdale’s Samantha Giles and Doctors actor Ian Midlane.
