Phillip Schofield faces being ‘given boot’ from Dancing on Ice after feud with Holly

Phillip Schofield could be “given the boot” from Dancing on Ice after he announced his exit from This Morning.

The ITV host confirmed he was “stepping down” from his role of nearly 20 years following a rumoured feud with Holly Willoughby.

The co-stars are believed to have had a rift off-camera, which has left viewers questioning the future of Dancing on Ice.

Now, bookmakers have cut the odds from 4/1 to a mere 10/11 on the presenter being dropped from the dance show.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes commented: “Attention is still very much on who’ll replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning, but the latest odds suggest another gig will soon be up for grabs, with Holly Willoughby likely to get a new co-presenter on next year’s Dancing On Ice.”

The pair worked on This Morning together for 14 years before being named as the co-hosts for Dancing on Ice.

Phil’s statement on Saturday ( May 20 ) read: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning.

“But recently, This Morning itself has become a story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.

“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.”

Phil reassured his fans that he would still be hosting the British Soap Awards in June.

He continued: “I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, said the network will continue its relationship with the presenter.

He said: “Phillip is hands down one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him for his two decades worth of absolutely terrific television on the This Morning sofa.

“This Morning is made by one of the best and most diligent teams in television, who produce over 12 hours of live television each week.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Phillip starting with The British Soap Awards in June and a brand new peak time series to come.”
