They said: “LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023 as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time.”
They haven’t provided any information and, as it stands, no arrests have been made and no suspects are in custody.
Tupac was shot and killed one block from the Las Vegas strip in September 1996 when he was just 25 years old.
The case has remained unsolved since his murder.
He was shot while in his black BMW at a red light on Flamingo Road and Koval Lane on September 7, 1996.
The rapper was rushed to University Medical Center immediately afterwards, but he died from his wounds six days later.
Tupac’s unsolved death has resulted in multiple conspiracies which has stemmed into books, films and documentaries all doing a deep dive into the events surrounding his death.
He took four bullets in the drive-by shooting and was shot twice in the chest, once in the arm and once in the thigh.
After his death, his cousin Jamala Lesane claimed in a 2016 documentary that he normally wore a bullet proof vest wherever he went, but due to the Nevada heat, he made the decision not to wear one on that night, resulting in tragedy.
His final moments were recounted by the police, with Sgt Chris Carooll stating that Tupac passed out after he dragged him from the car.
I kept asking over and over, ‘Who did this? Who shot you?’ And he basically kept ignoring me,” Carroll recalled, revealing the rapper mustered the last of his energy to refuse to name his assailant.
“All of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed. And he went from struggling to speak, being non cooperative, to an ‘I’m at peace’ type of thing. And that’s when I looked at him and said one more time, ‘Who shot you?'” Carroll continued.
“He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: ‘F*** you.'”
“After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness. At that point, an ambulance showed up, and he went into unconsciousness.”
Tupac died days later on September 13, 1996, after having a lung removed and suffering respiratory failure and cardiac arrest.
However, theories in his final moments continued to stir even years later as the mystery remains unsolved.
