Prince William and wife Kate’s university romance has been recreated for the sixth season of The Crown.
The pair, who met at St Andrews in 2001, are portrayed by actors Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy in the upcoming series of the hit Netflix show.
Ed, 21, who plays William, and Meg, 19, playing Kate, have been spotted filming scenes in St Andrews, where the pair met in 2001 while studying at the Scottish town’s University.
Filming has been underway in the royal couple’s former university home and scenes will depict the lovestruck duo strolling through rainy streets with shopping, before William gives Kate a peck on the cheek.

The pair are seen arm in arm and look totally loved up as they enjoy the first months of their romance, that would later blossom into marriage.
The couple famously met whilst studying at university together and rumours of the royal couple began to emerge in 2004, with Kate making her first official appearance in 2006. The pair met in a university dorm, and even went on to live together at one point during their studies.
It’s reported that Kate famously caught the attention of William when she strode down the catwalk in a sheer dress at a charity fashion show.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the couple, with the pair briefly splitting up in 2007 after graduating from St Andrew’s in 2005. However, the pair rekindled their romance and went on to announce their engagement in 2010 and wed in April 2011.
The couple’s romance will feature in the next series of The Crown, which also features Princess Diana in the run up to her death in 1997 as it focuses on the late 1990s into the early 2000s.
Imelda Staunton is continuing the role of the Queen in the forthcoming series, with Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki also set to reprise their roles as then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The latest iteration of Diana, played by actress Elizabeth Debicki, has been seen filming scenes for the new series alongside Rufus Kampa, who plays a young William.
