Soap legend Jennifer Ellison eyeing comeback – but this time Coronation Street

Former Brookside star Jennifer Ellison is eyeing up a soap comeback – on Coronation Street.

The actress, 40, wants to play a gobby mum who “tears up” the cobbles.

Ex-glamour model Jennifer told the Daily Star Sunday: “I would love to finally do another soap.

“My friends Claire Sweeney and Steph Davis have just gone into Corrie so it would be amazing to film with them.

“I’d love to tear up the cobbles and be a mouthy mum who causes mayhem.”

She became a household name at 15, playing Emily Shadwick in the hit Channel 4 show Brookside, filmed in her native Liverpool.

She went on to have a brief pop career, starred in musical theatre and landed a part in the film adaptation of Phantom Of The Opera.

The mum-of-three took a long break to raise her family and set up her own performing arts school, Jelli Studios.

But after last year’s tough gig on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, she’s ready for more.

Jennifer, married to Robbie Tickle, said: “For a long time I’ve focused on being a mum to my three boys and to all my students. But my boys are now getting older.

“SAS gave me a new lease of life. It gave me back my confidence and self-respect. I would love to do a big gritty drama next.

“I’ve been auditioning and got down to the last two twice but not got the role so third time lucky hopefully.

“It is a tough industry. You have to dust yourself off.”

Next for Jen is the lead role in the hit Take That musical, Greatest Days, replacing Kym Marsh in the UK tour.
