Strictly Come Dancing star Fleur East has shared her joy with fans after revealing that she’s set to star in BBC drama, Phoenix Rise.
The 35-year-old, who recently replaced Rylan Clark as a presenter on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, headed over to Instagram to share her news. Fleur was all smiles in one snap which saw her in character playing the role of Miss Meesha in the school-based show.
Captioning the snap, she wrote: “So much to be grateful for in recent times. My family, my friends, opportunities that I honestly can’t even call ‘work’ and my health and happiness.

“One of my most recent updates include an acting role that I’m excited to share with you! I will be joining the cast of the BBC Drama ‘Phoenix Rise’ as music teacher Miss Meesha for series 3 & 4 which will air next year.”
She added: “Hard work really does pay off and I’m so grateful for the chance to explore my passions and have fun while doing it. We rarely take time to be thankful, even for the smallest things. What are you grateful for?”
Heading straight to the comment section, fans congratulated Fleur on her surprising news. One social media user wrote: “You honestly are amazing so proud of you slaying life.”
Another penned: “@fleureast definitely something to be proud of! Congratulations to you and best of luck for whatever the future holds for you!”
A third viewer said: “Your talent has no boundaries Fleur! You are fabulous.”
Meanwhile, a fourth impressed fan commented on the singer’s other amazing pursuits. They wrote: “You are brilliant on Strictly: It Takes Two, Fleur. And I also watched your tribute to Tina Turner on Sunday. Best performance ever.”
The positive news comes after some fans didn’t warm up to Fleur on Strictly’s It Takes Two and longed to see Rylan back on their screens. The first instalment of the popular BBC series went down a treat with viewers, with some hailing new host Fleur East as “a breath of fresh air”.
However, a format change in the show, which sees the former X Factor star perform a rap to describe what happened on the main show at the weekend, hasn’t been received well. This has lead some viewers to complain.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer fumed: “#Strictly Fleur rap on It Takes Two… Never again That was abysmal.” While another agreed: “I get the urge to destroy things when Fleur East starts rapping. So annoying! #strictly.”
