Strictly’s Motsi Mabuse ‘being sued by ex-husband’ over claims in autobiography

Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse is reportedly being sued by her ex-husband over comments she made about him in her autobiography.

Motsi’s former husband Timo Kulczak has reportedly taken legal action against the BBC star for statements made about him in her memoir Finding My Own Rhythm, released last year.

In the book, Motsi claimed that during their 11 year marriage, Timo gave her an allowance from the earnings she made working as a dance teacher and from her TV roles.

The 42-year-old also alleged that Timo stopped her from having a child, controlled her diet and prevented her from opening her own dance school.

According to legal documents allegedly obtained by The Sun on Sunday, Motsi’s former husband is suing his ex-wife for £70,000.

It has been reported that the lawsuit has been filed at Offenburg Regional Court, meaning that Motsi – a German citizen – or a lawyer must be present at the hearing.

Reports claim the document says that Mosti must stop “implying that the plaintiff made the defendant suffer during their marriage”.

It also calls for her to publicly announce that “the statements published in the book and cited press reports are untrue”.

Motsi and Timo divorced back in 2014 after they met at a dance competition and later married in 2003.

The Strictly Come Dancing star is now married to her husband Evgenji Voznyuk and the pair have a daughter together.

Motsi released her memoir in 2022, five years after she remarried, and her ex-husband Timo has since spoken out against the star’s claims.

He accused the dancer of fabricating details in an attempt to “push book sales” and reports alleged that Timo tried to settle the matter outside of court, but was unsuccessful.

Kulczak spoke to The Sun about the situation, telling them: “She did something bad to me and my family and I can’t accept that, now I have reached a point whereby I cannot just let things stand as they are, when something is put out there i the public and it is simply not true.”

He continued: “Looking back, I remember a very good and positive and happy time that simply cannot be compared to some of the claims about me that have now come to light.”

Daily Star has contacted a representative of Motsi for comment.
