Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid told Ashley Cain that she was “worried” about him following his plans to take on the world’s toughest challenge.
Ashley appeared on the show to speak about the Yukon 1000 mission on Thursday (June 22), which will see him kayak from Canada, through the Arctic Circle to Alaska in the US.
It comes after the dad vowed to take on a series of extreme challenges in honour of his daughter, Azaylia, who tragically passed away from leukaemia in 2021.

His latest challenge has been described as the world’s toughest survival race, which he hopes to complete alongside his teammate, Gary Johnson.
As Ashley told Susanna and Ben Shephard about his plight, Susanna responded: “I am worried about you.”
In response, the dad said: “I would be a liar if I said I wasn’t worried myself but you know, when I wrote my daughter’s eulogy, I found out who the man is I wanted to be.

“I made a promise to her on that day that I was going to take her around the world.”
Ben applauded Ashley’s “relentless drive” but highlighted there are “elements on this journey you can’t control”.
“100% I think that is the major concern really,” said Ashley.
“It’s a 1000-mile kayak and it’s unsupported. So as soon as you leave Canada you are unsupported until you get to Alaska.”
There will be a threat of bear and wolf attacks as well as the risk of hypothermia.
Ashley continued: “If you are in an emergency it will take four days for anyone to get to you.

“It’s quite worrying, it’s dangerous waters and dangerous animals but this is the whole point.
“I really want to show the world how much it means to me to create a brighter future for these children.”
Later on in the conversation, Susanna asked Ashley how “tough” Father’s Day was for him last week.
He said: “This year it really broke me. It breaks me every time it comes around. It seems like every occasion hurts but this year I found it really difficult to get through the day.

“I spent all day crying at absolutely everything and I spent a lot of the time down at her resting place just wanting to be with her, just wanting to speak to her and wanting to share those moments.”
Fans flocked to Twitter to send Ashley their well wishes following the segment.
One person wrote: “I can’t watch Ashley Cain talk without crying my eyes out every time! What a brave, strong man. I can’t imagine their pain as Azaylia’s parents. You know he will smash that challenge.”
Another said: “Bless. No parent should go through the trauma of losing their child, especially to that horrible disease. All the very best to him.”
