The Masked Singer fans think they have ‘confirmed’ Jacket Potato’s identity, after one of the show’s judges was caught up in a phone call prank.
Celebrity judge Jonathan Ross appeared on BBC series Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, where he became a victim of the comedian’s Send To All segment.
The segment sees Michael send an embarrassing text to everyone in the celebrity’s phone book, with a message to Jonathan’s contacts reading: “Hi Doc, sorry for the late text, but the rash is back. Jane says it smells like cabbage and I can barely sit down. If you can come round NOW I’ll give you any comic of your choosing. Jx”

However, one reaction to the text has left fans convinced that Jacket Potato is definitely EastEnders actor Shane Richie – after weeks of speculation on social media that it could be the Alfie Moon star behind the mask.
Michael could be heard asking Jonathan how close he was to Shane, after receiving five missed calls from the star following the text.
Fans soon flocked to social media following the incident, with one saying: “Shane Richie has blown his cover now, he may as well take the mask off.”
The Masked Singer fans were already ‘convinced’ that Shane Richie was behind the mask, with the latest incident adding further to their suspicions.
The Alfie Moon actor seems a popular choice with viewers, with one saying: “Jacket potato is blatantly Shane Richie. I bet you all 50p.”
“Shane Ritchie has to be Jacket Potato,” said another, with more fans suggesting the same.
“Think I’ve cracked a few on Masked Singer UK this week. Jacket Potato sounded like Shane Richie,” they said.
A fourth said: “Tonight’s is too easy. Jacket potato is Shane Richie and Fawn is former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kenneth Clarke. Simple. #MaskedSingerUK.”
“Bet anyone £1 it’s Shane Richie on @MaskedSingerUK #maskedsinger #MaskedSingerUK,” added a fifth.
However, other celebrities tipped to be behind the mask include fellow EastEnders star Brian Conley, rock star Richie Sambora, comedian Matt Lucas and popstar Brian Harvey.
With the latest series continuing this Saturday (February 4, 2023), viewers will have to wait a little longer to see if it is Shane Richie behind the mask – or someone else.
